Because we’re local, travel time isn’t padding your quote here the way it would for a job an hour out. Small single-item pickups make sense in Porters Neck and Ogden in a way they sometimes don’t further afield.

You’re Not in Wilmington City Limits

Porters Neck, Ogden, Middle Sound and Murrayville are unincorporated New Hanover County. Close enough to the city to share a Wilmington mailing address, but outside the city limits — which means the City of Wilmington’s bulky item collection isn’t available to you.

Wilmington residents can book a city pickup for oversized items. A few hundred yards up Market Street, you can’t. Residents out here arrange their own household waste service, and bulky items are generally not part of it.

People discover this at the worst possible moment — usually with a mattress already on the driveway. The options are hauling it yourself, renting a container, or having someone come and take it. For one or two items, the third is nearly always the cheapest and the fastest.

Crawl Spaces, Attics and Older Ogden Homes

A lot of Ogden’s housing stock is 1970s to 1990s ranch and split-level, built on crawl space foundations. Two things follow from that.

First, crawl spaces get used for storage, and coastal humidity is unkind to whatever ends up down there. Cardboard collapses, timber goes soft, upholstery mildews, and metal rusts. What went under the house intact ten years ago frequently isn’t salvageable now. We clear crawl spaces, and it’s worth knowing that the volume is usually larger than people expect once it’s all pulled out into daylight.

Second, these houses have real attics — floored, accessed by pull-down ladders, and full. Attic clearouts here are one of our commonest jobs, and the awkward part is always the ladder rather than the volume. Our crew handles that; you don’t need to be carrying boxes down a pull-down.

If you’re clearing either, tell us which when you book. Crawl space work needs different kit and a different amount of time than a garage.

Renovations and Flips

The same age of housing stock means a steady flow of renovation work. Kitchens and bathrooms from the eighties and nineties coming out, popcorn ceilings, carpet over hardwood, brass fixtures, wood panelling, and the original HVAC.

We do a lot of demolition and renovation debris up here for homeowners and for flippers working the corridor. Construction loads are priced on volume and weight, because tile, plaster and old cast iron hit disposal limits well before they fill a trailer.

If you’re turning over properties in this area regularly, a scheduled run works out cheaper than booking each site individually. Worth asking.

The Market Street Corridor

Ogden isn’t only residential. The Market Street corridor through Ogden and Porters Neck carries a lot of retail plazas, restaurants, medical and dental practices and small offices, and those generate a different kind of work: office cleanouts on lease turnover, old shelving and fixtures from retail refits, restaurant equipment, waiting room furniture and stacks of dead electronics.

Being minutes away helps here more than anywhere. Commercial jobs usually need to happen outside trading hours or inside a tight window between tenants, and we can work early, late or at weekends without the drive eating the schedule.

Porters Neck Plantation, Country Club and Figure Eight

Parts of Porters Neck sit inside gated or HOA-managed communities with their own rules — gate lists, callbox access, restricted contractor hours and limits on where a trailer can stand. Tell us the community when you book and we’ll clear the access side before we arrive.

Figure Eight Island is reached through Porters Neck via the private bridge, and access there needs arranging in advance with the island’s security. We do work on Figure Eight, but it isn’t a job we can turn up to unannounced — give us as much notice as you can.

Middle Sound and the Waterway

Properties along Middle Sound Loop and the waterway bring the marine end of things: old dock sections, davits, crab pots, small boats past repair, rusted boat trailers and jet skis. We take most of it, and metal goes to scrap.

What we can’t take is marine fuel, bottom paint or lead-acid batteries — drain and remove those beforehand and the rest is straightforward.
